Election for League Membership

A new third division was added in 1921/22 (the northern section) with the existing third division being renamed Third Division (South). Re-election candidates Brentford and Gillingham were re-elected without a vote. As Grimsby were transferred to the Northern section and Crystal Palace were promoted to the Second Division with Stockport being relegated from the Second Division to the northern section, two vacancies existed the southern section. Third Division North Election

۰Division 3 (North) was to consist of 20 clubs. Transferred Grimsby Town and relegated Stockport County were joined by 14 clubs who were accepted en bloc at a special League meeting in March 1921, these clubs being Accrington Stanley, Ashington, Barrow, Chesterfield, Crewe Alexandra, Darlington. Durham City, Hartlepools United, Lincoln City, Nelson, Rochdale, Tranmere Rovers, Walsall and Wrexham. The remaining four places were voted on at the League AGM.

۰After the League AGM the following clubs joined those above in the newly formed Third Division North; Halifax Town, Southport, Stalybridge Celtic and Wigan Borough.
